X Ray packs: Why are they not allowed?

So, I uploaded an X Ray Texture pack... little did i know, they aren't allowed. However, PMC allows mods that give you instant diamonds and items (Ex: TooManyItems, Dirt to diamonds) So why doesnt it allow something that lets you locate caves?? If anything, those mods are worse!

So someone please explain why PMC decided to not allow X Rays BESIDES the fact that they can be considered cheating.

If texture packs are too universal, could someone make single player mod that accomplishes the same thing? A few weeks ago I was looking for one to help with my creative projects and was disappointed to discover they are no longer available.

Nice Pic! I kinda agree with this one. X-rays should be used as single player worlds. But not in multiplayer(unless allowed). One diamond for this complaint. ;D

Yea, mods are for Single Player, X-Ray texture packs can be used in Multi Player, and fall under the category of hacking; which is against the rules

The point is, the mods you mentioned are SP only, without OP.
X-ray is SMP as well, and we don't want people cheating on SMP.

Plus dirt to diamonds is a single player mod. Unlike xray texture packs they let you cheat on multi player.

my guess is that they think its just an easy attempt at a texture pack, but if that's the case then they shouldnt allow the 8x8's either... but just a thought
