Why, hello minecrafter! Whats that? You need help with survival? Well you came to the right person! So,first,create a world. You can name it whatever you want, and if you want, type in a seed by clicking the more world options box!
Once thats done,click the Create new world button
So now to the survival part, when your fancy little chunks load, you will spawn in a place like no other! literally!
So now what? Find a tree, and beat the crap out of it by holding the left mouse button. You will see a cracking animation in the tree, and when the tree breaks, you get a little block of wood! Now the wood is useless now, but open the inventory screen bye pressing the E key. You should see a menu with slots everywhere.
Put the block of wood in the crafting slot by clicking the block and clicking again with the left click button.
Now, grab the planks on the crafting result slot! You just made your first craft! Now, put all the the planks in the crafting slots so there is 1 in each slot. Then grab the crafting table in the crafting result slot! The crafting table (workbench) can be used to make other things that require a 3x3 space. Place it on the ground by selecting it and right clicking somewhere on the ground! Thats how you place blocks! Now thats the basics! You can find more about minecraft at minecraftwiki.net.
