YouTube is something you hear nearly every time you enter PMC. YouTube is an awesome website and the absolute best way to show people your videos! But is it overused on PMC? Are there more things people can do?
The Reason why PeoPle use YouTube
YouTube is a video service run by Google. Heaps of PMC users use YouTube to show the community how they play Minecraft etc. etc. There are also many things you can do on YouTube like keeping up with famous people like Tobuscus and TomSka. When you look at a YouTube vid, it gives the uploader a 'view' which is one of the things that YouTubers are addicted to, just like their subscribers. YouTube live is also great for livestreaming.
Why it iS Overused
When you look at the forum feed on the right of your page, you see like 1000000000000 (x heaps more 0s) of YouTube video promotions, and nothing else. The feed is for general posts, not just for people who want to show off their YouTube videos. YouTubers should keep up the good work and keep uploading their videos, but the amount of YT spam on PMC is ridiculous. When you look at the blogs, other than blogs like 'looking for server,' you will find 'Check out Meh Awesum youtube vidzzz.' 1, they will be removed from the blogs, and 2, they just clog up the blog section. People should still advertise their YT videos here but there should not be so much spam.
What can we dO About it?
To be honest, not much. The people who advertise their YouTube videos are just overly obsessed by them and they just spam their guts out with forum topics and blog posts. Cyprezz and Paril can change the forum feed so all YouTube related threads go in another feed box, just like all server posts go in their separate feed box. Another thing you can do is NOT post every time yu upload something new, instead make 1 whole topic with all your current videos and all there will ever be, and bump it regularly.
ConclUsion
YouTube is great, and all YouTubers should keep uploading at their regular frequencies, but YouTube should not be spammed on PMC. There needs to be much more room dedicated to quality work instead of quality (and crappy) YouTube videos. Hardly anyone wants to watch them, and only the YouTubers are interested about posting about them!
