If youo re not one of the 3.4 million people subscribed to o SkyDoesMinecrafto you probably dono t know who o SkyTheKidRso is, and even after watching numerous videos of his, I cano t say I know who he is either. I honestly cano t.
Yes, what he releases everyday is good-quality: a 10-20 minute video showing a mini-game battle between himself and Youtubers such as Deadlox, Jerome, etc. Thereo s a number of laughs every time and for that, he is worth subscribing to.
The games are also pretty entertaining: if youo re interested in seeing o Deaf hunger gameso , o The duck hunto , o Gravitrono or o Run from the beasto , then the commentator shouldn't be the problem. And if you love unnecessarily and violently abusing other people in the comments just for fun, these videos are the ones for you.
However the problem is his lack of identity. Maybe ito s the fact that he piles as many Youtubers as possible into his videos, resulting in a mass eruption of noise and chaos that sometimes makes it hard to recognise whoo s who. Maybe ito s the lack of normal, sober conversation that stops us from seeing beyond Skyo s trademark screaming and yelling. (Eg. o WARIOOOO. WARIOOOOOO.o )
Some might say ito s the disconnection between Youtuber and viewer. Unlike CaptainSparkles, he rarely does Q&A sessions, and viewers wait ages to see his face, hear him alone and really get to know him. If that doesn't bother you, fine. Maybe not properly knowing him is okay as long as he makes you laugh. But for me, ito s hard to relate to him. This may be due to how annoying I find American accents, but still.
Furthermore, the channel suffers from a drought in creativity. Perhaps some mini-game maps could be jazzed up or a twist could be added to make each game more unique and challenging. The o cops and robberso series which is long past its sell-by date could be brought to an end. Sky could diversify and bring in new adventure-map series to compete with the likes of Simon and Lewis.
Mini-game after mini-game is starting to become tiring. But thato s only my personal opinion; whato s for sure is that some viewers may be drawn to the likeability and personalities that other Youtubers may have more of. For me, Sky doesn't yet have the full package. But that could change. If he talks to his viewers a little more, my entire opinion of him could all change.
Notice how I didn't mention 'budder', because it has nothing to do with Sky as a commentator and it's certainly easy enough to avoid all of the hype around this; just don't look at the comments.
