How to install Minecraft Data Packs

The better food data pack attempts to make underused food items more worthwhile to create and more in tune with how you would expect food to benefit the player.



Food Buffs (the following food items grant extra status effects)​
  • Beetroot Soup - grants 6 more saturation and regeneration I (0:10)
  • Enchanted Golden Apple - clears debuffs and grants instant health I
  • Golden Apple - grants instant health I
  • Golden Carrot - clears blindness, grants regeneration I (0:05) and absorption I (0:05)
  • Honey Bottle - clears debuffs, grants instant health I, and grants regeneration I (0:30)
  • Mushroom Stew - grants 6 more saturation and regeneration I (0:10)
  • Pumpkin Pie - grants 6 more saturation and grants regeneration I (0:10), resistance I (0:10), and haste I (0:10)
  • Rabbit Stew - grants 6 more saturation and regeneration I (0:10)
  • Sweet Berries - clears hunger, poison, nausea, and weakness, grants 2 more saturation
  • Water Bottle - clears nausea and weakness
New Items
  • Enchanted Golden Carrot (found in dungeon chests and abandoned mineshafts) - grants the effects of a normal golden carrot, removes all debuffs, grants instant health II, grants night vision (8:00)
  • Enchanted Sweet Berries (found from destroying sweet berry bush blocks or in taiga village, igloo chests, and mansions) - removes all debuffs, grants 8 saturation, grants instant health I, grants speed I (0:20)
  • Apple of Knowledge (found in end city chests)
    • The first time you eat the apple, all effects are cleared and you get blindness (0:60), night vision (0:60), wither I (0:60)
    • Every time including the first time you eat the apple, you clear all debuffs, and you are granted speed I (0:60), regeneration I (0:60), resistance II (0:60), strength II (0:60), and full saturation
  • Enchanted Pumpkin Pie - grants 6 more saturation and grants regeneration I (0:40), resistance I (0:40), and haste I (0:40)
  • Enchanted Carrot (found from destroying the carrot crop) - grants 4 more saturation, clears blindness, and grants night vision (0:30)
  • Enchanted Water (found from fishing) - clears all debuffs, grants 2 more saturation
  • Enchanted Beetroot (found from destroying the carrot crop) - grants 4 more saturation, clears weakness, and grants strength II (0:30)
  • Enchanted Cod and Salmon (found from fishing or in village fisherman chests) - grants 4 more saturation and dolphin's grace (0:25) and water breathing (0:25)
  • Enchanted Tropical Fish (found from fishing or in village fisherman chests) - grants 4 more saturation and dolphin's grace (0:35), water breathing (0:35), and glowing (0:35)
  • Enchanted Cookie (found in dungeon chests and mansions) - grants 2 more saturation, clears slowness and mining fatigue, and grants speed IV (0:10) and jump boost I (0:10)

Removed unnecessary files
Added enchanted variants of the following food items: beetroot, carrot, cod, salmon, tropical fish, cookie, water, and pumpkin pie
Moved effects from regular pumpkin pie to enchanted
Sweet berries now have a small chance of being found from mining berry bushes

Bug: if you place carrots and break it, they have a chance to give you their enchanted form without bone mealing it

another bug, sweet berries can also give you enchanted sweet berries at their small form (hasn't grown yet)

You could use /loot give @s loot better_food:(item)

For example, if you wanted enchanted carrots, you would type /loot give @s loot better_food:enchanted_carrot

You can press tab while you just have /loot give @s loot better_food: to switch through which item you want
