Introduction
Clean Wool is a datapack that gives your cauldrons the ability to "clean" or un-dye all colors of wool.
How to Install This Datapack
To install, simply download this datapack, open the world folder¹ that you want to install this datapack in, go into the datapacks folder, and move the downloaded datapack into the current folder. Once installed, read the section How to Use This Datapack for details on how this datapack works.
How to Use This Datapack
After you have installed Clean Wool, find/get a cauldron, add water to it if it's empty, and drop² any color wool except for white inside the water cauldron. It will automatically detect if there is any dyed wool in the cauldron and replace the dyed wool with white wool. How cool is that?
WARNING! At this point in development, if you drop stacked items into a cauldron that contains water, it will not work as expected and give you less white wool and will only remove one layer of water from the cauldron, meaning you lose all but one of your dyed wool and get as much white wool as you would when you drop just one dyed wool into the cauldron. This is a critical bug and will be fixed very soon. Please be aware of this when undying wool with a cauldron.
¹ For Windows, this folder is usually under C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves\<world name>.
² By default, you press Q to drop items.
