    I always wanted dirt half blocks for better terraforming. Luckily, there's an unused slab in the game: the petrified oak slab! I retextured it to look like a slab made out of dirt and made a data pack, so the block is available in survival too. Have fun terraforming!

    sorry for the late response. since it just re-textures a petrified oak slab, you sadly need a pickaxe to mine it.
