WELCOME TO LEGENDARY LOOT!:
INTRO:
Legendary loot is a data pack which seeks to enhance the combat aspect of Minecraft by adding upwards of 60 items that can be dropped by every hostile monster in the game. When these items are dropped, their name, attributes, and enchantments are randomized based on a pre-determined limit that is respective of that item's quality. For example, you kill a zombie and get a wooden sword; On death, the swords name, attributes, and enchantments are all randomized. So the sword is called "epic sword", it has +4.3 attack damage, but a very slow swing speed, and it also reduces your movement speed. This is the formula for the entire datapack.
This data pack is based on previous iterations of similarly formatted data packs that I have posted to this site before. These, while promising and arguably popular, were abandoned by me. This is my attempt to make up for that.
CONTENTS:
The data pack adds a total of 6 new loot tables for Minecraft to choose from when you kill a monster. There are 13 entries in each loot table, and each loot table is separated by the rarities of the items it contains. For example, the common loot table features all the wooden and leather items. The uncommon table features golden tools and armor. The rare loot table features all of the stone items as well as chainmail armor. The epic table consists of iron items and armor. The legendary table consists of diamond tools and armor. And finally, the artifact pool consists of netherite tools and armor. Each time you kill a monster, there is a random chance of rolling any one of the items from any one of these loot tables. So, killing one zombie might net you no items, while killing another zombie might net you a legendary or even artifact rarity item. The entire pack is based on looting systems like those present in ARPGs like Diablo or Grim Dawn. It maintains original Minecraft monster drops while adding in all of the aforementioned content.
Aside from the armor and weapons this pack provides, it also contains a slot on each loot table for a shield, bow, crossbow, and fishing rod, which furthers the randomization and shows how the pack includes most reaches of its grasp. As a neat little gimmick, each shield is able to choose from a list of 10 shield designs that are all different, amounting to a total of 60 unique shield patterns to find. This also applies to leather armor, but with the dye applied to the armor.
DOWNLOADING THE PACK:
To install Legendary Loot, all you have to do is click the download button for the data pack on this page. Once the zip has fully downloaded, extract the folders inside to whatever Minecraft save file you'd like. There is a folder called "data packs" located in all Minecraft save folders, and this is where you will put the unzipped data pack called Legendary loot.
DETAILS:
I'll try to keep this breakdown as simple as possible. If you have any questions relating to the pack at all, don't hesitate to reach out in the comments or through PM, I'll do my best to respond in a timely fashion!
Common = All Dropped Wooden Items (5) / Leather Armor (4) / Shield / Crossbow / Fishing Rod
Uncommon = All Dropped Golden Items (5) / Golden Armor (4) / Shield / Crossbow / Fishing Rod
Rare = All Dropped Stone Items (5) / Chainmail Armor (4) / Shield / Crossbow / Fishing Rod
Epic = All Dropped Iron Items (5) / Iron Armor (4) / Shield / Crossbow / Fishing Rod
Legendary = All Dropped Diamond Items (5) / Diamond Armor (4) / Shield / Crossbow / Fishing Rod
Artifact = All Dropped Netherite Items (5) / Netherite Armor (4) / Shield / Crossbow / Fishing Rod
Every individual item, from a wooden sword to a Netherite helmet, has 10 unique names that can be chosen upon dropping, all of which are properly colored and formatted to fit the theme of the data pack. In total, there are 84 unique names to be found, which is all RNG-Based. Each individual item, like a wooden sword, has a unique lore as well. Unfortunately, randomized lore is something that I haven't figured out yet so every wooden sword will have the same lore, or every Netherite helmet will have the same lore. Even with this, there are still 78 unique lore descriptions applied to items to be found.
MOVING FORWARD:
The base data pack is fully complete. This is a completed edition of this data pack and it will be released as such. With this being said, I do at least plan on adding to this data pack in the future, and that will likely come in the form of "content related" theme updates, like loot crates or a custom structure. This is speculative however, and this pack itself took hours upon hours to complete. There are nearly 30,000 lines of json formatting within the data pack just to fit all of the customization and items into the loot tables. The entire pack was created by me. Every bit of custom wording, formatting, and functions are all because of the work put in to make it happen. It was not easy, but it was something I've always wanted within Minecraft and I feel that this comes pretty darn close.
Please, let me know what you think about this data pack. My previous iterations of it were not completed, but felt quite popular regardless. I felt I owed you all this to make up for those data packs which had been so promising but were nonetheless abandoned. I hope you enjoy what I've spent countless hours working on and I hope it makes your Minecraft experience something unique and fun.

ON A SEPERATE NOTE: As a suggestion, is it possible to see in the future specific item combinations to make a "Random Affix" book you apply to an item at a Anvil. This will reroll the item for one of said items. But it would have to be a different level book for each of the tiers/categories that you have listed above.
You can adjust drop rates, but it will take a while haha. If you go into the datapack folders and navigate to the minecraft folder within it, you should be able to find the loot_tables folder and can edit the individual mobs from there.
