Sunken chests and barrels is a datapack that adds chests and barrels as a fishing treasure. Fish them up and place them down to open the containers and get the loot. The contents are based on chests that you can find in a normal Minecraft world that fit with the theme of fishing.
This is a balanced pack perfect for a survival world that will be compatible with almost any other datapack as it only changes one vanilla file (treasure.json).
The following are the types of chests/barrels obtainable through fishing
buried treasure
shipwreck map
shipwreck supply
shipwreck treasure
spawn bonus
underwater ruin small
underwater ruin big
village fisher


You can expect to find one or so chest/barrel's 90% of the time after fishing for a full Minecraft day and night with a fully enchanted fishing rod.

Anyone can use, edit, create derivative works, etc. with this datapack, go crazy, give credit when you can but don't worry about it too much.

Capitalization was inconsistent in some places, that has been fixed. Also updated the pack format reflect its compatibility with 1.18.2.

This will actually work with 1.19 even though it will say its incompatible but I've been looking into weather or not I can have chest boats included as some of the containers.

Hello, I created Biome Fishing and I had someone ask if my pack was compatible with yours. Unfortunately I don't use the 'treasure' loot table at all in my pack and I was curious if you'd mind if I incorporated your pack into a combo datapack with mine. I was considering after seeing your pack that I could add I could add for instance jungle temples to the jungle loot tables. I'm still tinkering with making structure loot tables work, but if I can then I can make it so you have to fish up the chests at the structures themselves which could be like a balancing thing or make it feel more location oriented.

The way it works is it adds them to the possible pool of things you can get from treasure while fishing, and I made it so the chance of getting one of the two containers is the same as getting any other treasure item from fishing. So the same chance as getting an enchanted book. Or another way to say it is, if you catch a treasure item, it has a 1/7 chance of being a sunken container, since there are originally 6 different treasure items you can catch.
