This datapack replaces the vanilla fishing loot tables with loot tables that give you loot depending on which biome you're in. For instance while fishing in a swamp you can fish up slime balls or fishing in a warm ocean can yield coral. Every biome currently has it's own loot table to pull from; although similar biomes will have the same drop tables.

One unfortunate limit of the pack is that it requires the vanilla biomes to be present. If you're playing with any datapacks or mods that have their own biome lists and generation. My pack will only work in the vanilla biomes when you find them. I personally just spend most my time messing around with world generation to actually play through it. So I haven't made time to incorporate other datapacks/mods, but would be rather easy, only tedious to do on your own, and if you ask I will make compatibilities for requested datapack/mods. It just takes time to implement fully and cleanly. I would like compatible version a crossed the versions of Minecraft my pack is compatible with. So it just takes time I end up loading into other ideas. But feel free to ask. That'll give me the impetus to do it.

As another addition to the loot tables I've added luck potions to the drop lists. These potions can be brewed into their splash and lingering versions as well and tipped arrows can be made.

Fishing with luck of the seas on your fishing rod will raise your "generic.luck" by 0.15 each level if I'm understanding the wiki. Luck Potions add 1x level to "generic.luck", making loot table entries with a high quality score more likely, and ones with negative quality less likely. It also increases the chances of "bonus_rolls" occurring

An affect this will have on the game for instance without any luck you will get a fair amount of water bottles, whereas with Luck of The Sea III you'll almost never get water bottles, and with the Luck effect, even without LoTS III you'll never get a water bottle. Every drop has had a quality set for it to way against when you have luck. The more luck you have, the greater the impact of quality will be. If you're fishing for the treasure and rare resources, then use a lot of luck. If you want the more common resources and plants and so on, less luck or no luck will keep them around.

Bonus Rolls will roll the chosen loot table a second time at %50. I'm not certain how luck affects the bonus rolls other than that you need luck for then to trigger at all, and more luck makes them more likely. I don't think it affects the drop rate with in the bonus roll table, so if you have 0-7, it will be a 1/8 chance on each since there's 8 'choices' from zero to seven.

Using a Luck potion while fishing will drastically improve your catch rates and item drops while fishing using my mod as I've specifically made sure to account for luck in it. Plus bonus rolls are fun, it's like having looting or fortune for your fishing rod. Also since the bonus rolls are effected by luck and Luck of The Sea raises luck

Plus if you can use luck potion before opening up some structure chests and get better loot. Some structure chests, and a few mobs, I think cat preasents also are effected by luck so you can get more loot in other spot in base minecraft. And if any datapacks or mods use quality in their loot tables then it'll be useful there.

I've altered the enchant book drop to be "enchant_randomly" as apposed to "enchant_with_levels" as in the base game they are enchanted with lvl 30 "treasure" enchants; which is pretty op if you just grind fishing for a few hours, but it is one of the only ways to get mending.

So what my change does is makes it so mending and the curses are still in the drop pool and should also be at about the same regularity you find them in before, but the level of the enchant on a book will be random, so not always IVs and Vs. The books will also be single enchant. This is a consequence of the random enchant filter, but I also personally like it as both a nerf to how quickly you can get tons of enchants, and makes organizing your enchant stock far easier since you don't get books that have mutually exclusive enchants on them.
I've also added experience bottles to the loot tables as well.

There won't be versions made for 1.13 and 1.14 due to this datapack utilizing "predicates" in its loot tables; which were added in 1.15.

I've created a version for 1.15, 1.16, 1.17, and 1.18 with the necessary version changes between.

1.15 has the old "nether" biome loot table.

1.16 has the new nether biome loot tables.

1.17 has the new cave biome loot tables

1.18 has the new cliff biome loot tables.

For the Nether biomes it checks to see if you're fishing in lava. Normally you won't be able to fish in lava, even with my datapack unfortunatly.
If you want to gain access to the nether loot tables I'd recommend 'Fishing In Lava' by Dogeon188, although you'll need to replace their datapack's loot table with my loot tables in order for it to work. Otherwise one will conflict with the other for loot drops. Also if there's a datapck or mod that somehow allows fishing in a nether biome then my pack will work for the vanilla biomes.
Just having water in a 'nether' biome won't trigger it. You'll need to fish in lava in a 'nether' biome.

Loot Table List

-All Biomes Are in an "alternate" drop list, with each entry checking for each biome. So when a fish is caught the loot table will run up to down on the list search for a positive option. This should be the more efficient way to set up the table. Otherwise I could organise the biome checks in a list of either most common or most likely to be used, which would mean the whole list doesn't need to get checked to get the warm_ocean check. But the efficiency gain from that would be so minute I don't think you'd notice even on a world with a mountain of datapacks and or mods.

-Each biome has 1 roll
-Each drop list for the biomes has 1 roll and 0-1 bonus rolls

-Quality is affected by the luck effect AND the enchant Luck of The Sea:
Potion luck adds 1 luck per level. Luck of The Sea adds 0.15 luck per level.

-They do stack so:
  Potion-lvl:1+Enchant-lvl:3= 1.45 Total Luck
  Weight+(Luck*Quality)=Total Weight:
  Example W:100+(L:1.45*Q:5)=107.25, W:100+(L:1.45*Q:-5)=92.75

-Each biome has these as loot, all with the same weight and quality:
Enchanted Book: W:5 Q:5 (Enchanted books will also have 1 enchant per book. They can still be at max level, but will also be under.)

11 Update Logs

Version Backport Update : by Anthsa 03/03/2023 12:04:35 amMar 3rd, 2023

I've finally created compatible versions from 1.15 up to 1.19.3

-The 1.15 to 1.16.1 version does not contain any superfluous biome checks as it'll get angry when they're there.
-The Soul Sand Valley and Nether Wastes foliage loot tables are combined in this version.

-The 1.16.2 to 1.16.5 version contains the new Nether biome loot tables
-This version, as well as the proceeding versions contain the names from previous versions
-This doesn't cause any conflict above 1.15 to 1.16.1. The checks are effectively useless, unless some mod or datapack adds a     biome that has the name.

-The 1.17 to 1.17.1 version contain the new cave biome loot tables

-The 1.18 to 1.18.1 version only has the pack version number changed to fit 1.18 to 1.18.1, will work from 1.17 to 1.18.2

-The 1.18.2 version only has the pack version number changed to fit 1.18.2, will work from 1.17 to 1.18.2

-The 1.19 version contains the new Deep Dark loot table

-------------

-All applicable changes have been made to the edited Sunken Chests datapack as well.

-------------

I am not likely to continue any content updates for this pack, I do plan on maintaining it into future updates however.

I've finally finished an update for this pack. Mostly just adds the Sunken Chests mod into Biome Fishing; as well as updating some biome checks for 1.19. The creator of Sunken Chests is inactive at the moment so I can't send them the version I have of their pack for updating so I've included a version in my pack of Sunken Chests if you want to just have the chest drops and not my biome drops.

I also forgot to include version patches for each Minecraft version in this pack, so if people need them I'll go through the effort to re-include them

Could you update it to 1.19?

As far as I can tell with my pack is the only change that 'needs' to be changed from the 1.18 version to the 1.19 version is the "pack.mcmeta" version needs to be changed from '8' or '9' to "10". But the datapack version; again as far as I could tell on immediate inspection, shouldn't hinder any gameplay changes made by my pack, apart from Deep Dark and Mangrove Swamps not having loot tables associated with them.

Oh boy I haven't even looked at it. I've been distracted figuring out resourcepack models and blockstates.

I will make sure that Biome Fishing functions properly in 1.19 as soon as able too.

As for any of the previous ideas I've been bumping around, I haven't been working on them specifically for a bit, my attention has been more on my personal life and other projects. The main thing getting in the way of adding Y layer loot and structure loot drops is what to make the drops as well as the structures don't seem to trigger the loot drop so I've put that on the bunsen burner till I get back to it or find a fix.

Quick reply. Seems to function properly on immediate inspection in 1.19. I'll still need to add drop lists to the new deep dark

The only issue will be that the "pack.mcmeta" version will be "8 or 9" instead of "10", but that shouldn't affect anything in-game or otherwise. But if it's wanted I'll hotfix it. I will try to get back to this pack in due time for the 1.19 content, I'm only distracted with resourcepacks at the moment.

Oh and I see you had asked about the sunken chests. I've worked on that as well, but I got stuck at the structures not properly triggering the loot tables and got distracted with other ideas. I've added the content from Sunken chests, and added jungle pyramids to the loot tables as well, I want to add loot tables to most all the structures, which has taken most the time. I can't promise when I'll make all this, but eventually I'll make it. Assuming I can get the loot tables to function properly.

Sunken Chests functions by replacing the 'treasure' loot table in the fishing loot table folder. My pack disregards the vanilla 'treasure' loot table in favor of my own treasure loot tables. Plus my pack replaces the 'fishing' loot table which in vanilla controls what loot table is chosen when fishing; so my pack will supersede Sunken Chests and cause it to not function. I could add compatibility for it, but I would be affectively fully incorporating Sunken Chests into Biome Fishing and I'd feel the need to ask permission first before personally combining them. Plus given how Sunken Chests functions I could expand the loot drops and have stuff like jungle chests in jungles.

I've been wanting to add Terralith compatibility, but Terralith adds something like 30 biomes, and I want to make tailored loot tables for each biome but dang, 30+ more loot tables is a lot. I haven't even added the Y layer drops or structure drops since I've been conflicted on loot drops and getting the feature drop lists to actually drop.

I thought I saw that you spoke with the creator of the sunken chests and barrels data pack and I want to know if his answer was that it works correctly with yours or not
