I always prefer survival because it makes everything more satisfying and challenging.
However, creative is also nice for working on adventure maps and for doing things you can't do in survival such as getting player heads, adding lore to items, etc

Both... lol, I love creative because you can be so... well, creative lol, but survival is really fun to play with friends.
