how to make skins that are like textured and shaded

i would usually start with a base skin so the textures are there then i go into gamemaker which is a great program for beginning skinners then just fiddle with some ideas till you think the skin is perfect

Hey, I like the effort you're putting in to this and I have a request. Me being PICKLEP0RTAL you might guess that I would like a portal skin. Now if you could find one or make one that would be great! If you've never played portal then first of all... Play portal and also here is a picture of what I would like if you have never played portal.
