This is my 1st time texturing and I'm wondering, if I wanted to create an entirely new block to add in, can this be done thru the assets/texture files or does that have to be done in a mod? I'm guessing it's not just a simple: add "newblock.png" to the file

OK that's what I figured. I was hoping it was a simple task but if it were easy it wouldn't be fun right? lol. Thanks man
No. You would have to personally code the new block in yourself using Java, then you'll be able to add your texture for the new block.
