Can Shulkers and Shulker Boxes be retextured separately?

Is there any way to have shulkers and shulker boxes have different textures? Apparently they use the same texture (found in [.minecraft > assets > minecraft > textures > entity > shulker]), which makes it impossible to change one without changing the other. Is there like a way (for example) to have a shulker_box folder or something? Pls tell, ty.

i don't think so. Its like the giant mob, it shares the zombie texture.
Why would you want them to be seperate though? i find convenient.

No it's not very convenient. I want to do something, but here is a better example:

Someone wanted to retexture shulker boxes into crates, but the shulkers also came out to look like crates, which just looks very weird.

Well I use Fabric bc I use sodium :/

Maybe there is a way to do it by making what would technically be a data pack?
