I just recently got a Macbook Pro, and kinda want to get into recording Minecraft. What would your guys' suggestions be for the best way to record? Quicktime seems like the obvious option. However, I can't find a way to resize my Minecraft window, and record only the window with Quicktime. I could always rescale the video, but then quality is lost.

I want to record in 720P (1280 x 720) without having to rescale or crop, and preferably a way that costs little to no money (~10 dollars or less). What are your guys' setups?

Seems like it, but idk about 100 dollars good. I'd rather just use my solution.

I worked out a solution that works, but is a bit of a hassle. After recording in full screen, I down scale to 720P using an application called handbrake. I then edit and re-export with imovie before then uploading to Youtube. This may actually end up taking just as much time as using only imovie because handbrake makes exporting with imovie faster.

I'm curious to know why you would want to record in 720P when your macbook can display up to 2560x1600 or whatever.

Because (at least for the time being) I want to upload in 720P because it takes less time to upload (my internet isn't good at all).

Hey, I have a macbook pro rentina, and I use quicktime player to record... and I always get 1080p. Do you have yosimite? If you select screen recording... and then click record you can choose what you want to record by outlining it... hope that helps

Whenever I record, I get my Macs resolution, or I get whatever size of the screen selection I make.

The quality and everything is good, but you have the Mac bars and whatnot on the top and the bottom, and I just can't stand that. Cropping them out, or even playing in full screen would result in black bars, and stretching the video would be a slight loss in quality (though this may be the best way).

Also, pertaining scaling, I recorded a video at my macs native resolution, and exported it as 1280x720. When I watched it back, the video was playing at the correct resolution, but the bottom of the video was cut off. Like instead of downscaling, it just cut the bottom (and probably the sides) of the video to make it the correct dimensions. Is there a way to prevent this, and instead, have the video upscale or downscale?

Well I use Quicktime but you could possibly find a way with iMovie maybe?
Check out my quality on my videos.
