Hello everyone! I have been looking for a gaming headset for quite sometime and haven't come to a conclusion as to which one I should purchase yet. I was wondering if any of you kind people had anything to say about it.
This is my criteria:
- $150 Budget
- 7.1 Surround Sound
- Works on PC

These are some things that I would like, but are not necessary:
- Good Mic Quality
- Works on Console
- Mainly Black or Red
- Mic auto-mutes when pushed upwards
- Wireless
- EQ Modes
- Chat to Game Volume Control

I have already looked into headsets like the Logitech G930, Corsair Vengeance 2000, Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Omega, Turtle Beach DPX21, and Astro A40. I was almost ready to purchase the A40's, but the fact that it doesn't come with the mixamp was somewhat dissapointing. Any help is welcome

Muh headset

Pretty much a cheaper Logitech 935 I think? Or whatever it's called.
Had it a few months now. Very comfy, great audio quality and apparently I sound as beautiful as ever. 7.1 too.

*Blue Yeti isn't professional standard. or so I'm told

I use the Blue Yeti and its like heaven on crack, literally for 150$ you get a professional mic that can be muted with a click of a button, can adjust the volume through a little key on the mic and has 4 different settings for Interviews, No headset ect Especially those who dont like wearing a headset for 4 hours straight the blue yeti is the way to go.

Hi coolkevin867

I'll recommend you buy the Razer Kraken 7.1. It cost $99,99
Go check it out: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/razer-kraken-71

I recently bought myself Razer Orca's, but it has no mic, and also 7.1 surround sound.
But, the point I want to made is, that you can't go wrong with Razers. It's made by gamers for gamers. The sound of my Orca's is incredible!!! The build structure, and looks are great! The Kraken will be 5 or 7 times better than mine, because that's the real gaming beast headset. I only bought it for music, that's why there's no mic. The cool thing about the Orca's is, that it is for gaming and music. Hope I helped!

If you want to spend $150 just get a Blue Yeti Pro. It's foolish to spend that much on a headset.

The Sennheiser PC323Ds are a great little headset, I don't know where you are in the world but they are $130 USD on Amazon (I'll be getting mine from Amazon as they are over $350 in Australia).

It has 7.1 surround sound, auto-mutes when the mic is pushed up, mainly black, made for PC (there is also a console version) plus other features (read the Sennheiser page if you want).

I'll be getting these when I build my PC at the end of the year. I do agree with the others about Turtle Beaches quality, I have had a few problems with both of my P11s but they are quite old and they aren't the most expensive sets of headsets.

A pair of AT ATH-AD700's and something like a ATR2500 or Blue Snowball will get you better audio and microphone quality than any "high end" headset, especially if it's a "gaming" headset.

Astro headsets have piss poor audio quality and piss poor microphone quality. The only worthwhile thing in Astro's product line is the mixamp and that isn't worth $120.

awesomecheesemanwww.astrogaming.com/a30-headset-astro-edition I've used astros for a year. They are still as strong as ever. Its a great buy.

Would you suggest these over the A40's Headset (without the MixAmp)?

I also forgot to mention I looked into the Plyr 2 by Skullcandy, but ruled it out because it didn't have 7.1 surround sound. If there is anything you guys would like to make a point about relating to any of my criteria, it is flexible and could be changed.

I should also mention that, although mic quality is important, the sound quality matters much more. Worst scenario, I buy an $8 clip-on mic and use that.

I use my laptop mic and it seems to work good, I mean if you are recording you would want a better one, but just talking to friends a cheap one would do.

I have a desktop and it doesn't have a mic. I would just buy a Zalman Mic-1. It costs near to nothing and I've heard it is great quality
