Help with Dual Monitors
So I use to own a laptop and it had a VGA thingy where I could use dual monitors.
Anyways my new desktop only has one VGA, nad I have two VGA monitors. My question is can I use a VGA to HDMI thingy like this http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Converter-Ada ... ga+to+hdmi
and still have dual monitors
I head using a VGA splitter will just copy ur display.

I'm just going to buy a new monitor. lol
That's a comparably hefty investment. Decent new monitors start at around $90, when a converter box is less than $20.
Ya but it's almost 2015 if he doesn't have a monitor with HDMI he might wanna consider getting a new one anyway if he can afford it. I have 3 HDMI monitors and I still need to replace one for my new VCard so I can crank up the res. lol
If he had a DVI it'd be a simple matter of the cable itself, as for what he linked, that should be enough to convert the signal over since it does actually convert the signal if you read it. Converter boxes are more of a supplement since they can carry the audio signal to an output too. In this case, that obviously isn't needed as it's a PC monitor not a TV screen.
A simple HDMI to VGA adapter will not work. HDMI does not carry analog signals (which VGA uses), so you'll have to buy a special HDMI to VGA converter box.
Be careful though--it appears that some converter boxes convert VGA input to HDMI output, and others from HDMI to VGA. The one I linked takes in HDMI signal and outputs VGA, which is what you need.
Or, better yet, if your monitor has a DVI port, you could just grab a DVI cable and an HDMI to DVI adapter.

So If I plug the VGA cable of my monitor into that then plug that hdmi cabel into my pc it will work. I can have 2 desktops?
A splitter does just, splits making a copy. If you want 2 monitors you will need an adapter like that one in order to get separate desktops.
