How to run MC on an SSD?
How do you run Minecraft on a Solid State Drive? I want to know how to do it.

Here's my test results from trying to load Minecraft (with Liteloader, Forge, and about 40 mods) on a generic 7200rpm hard disk:
Total load time after hitting "Play" on the launcher: 42.639 seconds with a WD Blue that Dell used.
As of SSDs, I could only make a safe assumption that due to the random nature of them, it'll take less time allegedly. I dunno how that works, because I never dealt with long load times (except with SimCity 4 on my notebook in general, and on my desktop when loading large cities, and Windows 7 on my notebook, but that's mainly due to the "crap factor" of the AMD C50 CPU and probably the cheap yet semi-reliable 243GB WD drive in that. Other than that, if you have an OCD with load times, just stick with a normal hard disk.

So wait, what is the point of running minecraft in an SSD instead of a HDD?I'm a little confused.

There isn't really one. I wouldn't load Minecraft on an SSD - it's a fairly lightweight program and loading times aren't going to differ too much from a good 7200rpm HDD. However, things like Operating Systems (e.g. Windows) or large programs (e.g. Photoshop or Sony Vegas) will boot up faster on a SSD rather than a HDD, which makes them more convenient and also snappier.

A RAMDisk.

Yes, but unless you want to drop a lot of money for one that has a built-in always-on function so you don't lose all your data (RAM is erased on shutdown), you won't be able to put much on there without having to go through the hassle of backing it up whenever you shut off your PC / leaving your PC on 24/7.

Results from skyrim show that
On loading the game, only 20.8% of CPU was used. 8% of RAM and 4% Disk was utilized and achieving over 400fps.
Loading into the game world, I reached 7.9% CPU use. 2% RAM and 4% Disk.
Teleporting to whiterun with out load screen reached the CPU to 11.5%, 1% RAM and 1% Disk.
Needless to say. Minecraft is an endless blackhole for memory.

I switched out the CPU to a 3770K from an older system. (On average what everyone uses now and days).
I did some test using 1GB of ram then 32GB of ram.
I monitored the CPU Usage when loading minecraft.
Nothing was handled by 32GB's of RAM! 0% in an integer. 371MB in double, shows that the RAM isn't doing anything for the game. The cpu shot from idling in minecraft (15.9% - 19.9%) all the way to (50%-65%) when handling chunks. An eight core system has to dedicate four of its cores just to load minecraft?
Now you tell me if something is wrong here.
Further investigation after roaming around shows that 32% of my CPU is dedicated to rendering Minecraft.
Now lets see the results we can get from Skyrim on Ultra Settings

Woody, it would load faster because the saves are stored on your SSD and then loaded onto your CPU and GPU, your half correct, half incorrect

The information is selected by your CPU, on the SSD or HDD location, then returned to the CPU which processes this information and sends it over to the GPU which renders what you see, the CPU on the other hand handles a lot of the chunk loading. Chunk loading on screen though is limited because the CPU takes time to process these massive data leaking chunks (Mojang please fix this.), which the GPU sits there and waits to obtain the information which isn't fully processed yet.
This is just one case that is generally dealt with by many people on older computers.
Minecraft is a game that requires to much resources, On a laptop that pulls off 210 FPS on games such as Skyrim and Garrys Mod (All on High/Ultra). Why is that on Minecrafts highest functions I can only achieve 20fps?
The game is a super massive blackhole for memory leakage and personal I believe its technique should be rewritten another way.
Data isn't being handled correctly and Mojang is progressing to far forward to turn around and revamp the already released product. I do give some credit when they fixed a lot of things in 1.8 Beta, but it is just getting worse.
This is an issue that a lot of people have and the one way to fix it is to get a better system that can handle a leakage such as this. For example. My 32GB RAM, Graphics Card and Intel 4790k CPU overclocked to 5.00ghz with liquid cooling shouldn't be stressing nearly 90% to obtain chunks when loading a map. A simply revamping and handling of the data values that minecraft random generator produces. It handles to much at once, and needs to handle less.

If you are looking to change FPS. Invest in a better CPU and Graphics Card, or a whole new computer if your computer is outdated.
