I'm saving up my money for a new Mac Book Pro with 13-inch Retina Display. They cost about $1,499 USD. So far I have $100 USD. I wish there was a way I could get money faster, but I can't do anything about it for now. I'll be getting a job sooner or later, and I would like a computer to play on to keep me entertained until then. Oh well.

More info about the Mac Book Pro with 13-inch Retina Display can be found at http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/features-retina/

My question to you is, should I buy it? Answer with the poll question thing above, and if you want, reply with a reason why.

I have a MacBook Pro without the retina display, and I do really enjoy it, I get 60 FPS in Minecraft when I'm not recording (somehow recording makes it drop to 20), but I would actually recommend you avoid the MacBook Pro. It has excellent construction, and OSX is years ahead of Windows, but most good programs are incompatible with Mac. I would recommend buying a higher-spec laptop, or even buying a somewhat reasonable gaming desktop and buying a tablet for your portable needs (I was considering doing this, and now wish I had)

Arachnakid[snip] large portion of the games out there (as well as many other programs) are not compatible with the Mac.

That's the only issue I've had with macs. Spec wise they've been fine for me, and are able to handle certain things better than a PC

I have a Macbook Pro (without the Retina, which is fine because the Retina display ones need an adaptor to use LAN). It's a decent computer, but I probably will go back to PC the next time I buy one. Macs are not good gaming computers, in part because of the specs and in part because a large portion of the games out there (as well as many other programs) are not compatible with the Mac.

Eh, Unlike everyone else, I don't mind Macs. I couldn't afford one myself, but if you're looking into getting into video editing or other things like that, a Mac could be a good way to go if you're into that sort of thing. A lot of people on here will tell you not to get one, without a reason, just because it's "Mac" and it's another hate-fad they can hop onto. Listen to the ones who actually know a thing or two about Macs, they're you're best bet.

It's not that wehate Macs-- it's simply goes down to the fact that you can always get a higher specc'd PC for the same price as one could buy a Mac.

Those who know this can get annoyed by the 'mainstream', which often buys Macs because they're 'cool'.

Macs are simply not meant for gaming. You can get a way better PC for way less.

If you compare a Sony vaio or a kirabook or some other ultra book and add the specs up vary closely to the Mac then the windows 8 ultra book costs more.

Yes you should. People say that Macs are not good for gaming but compared to the PCs that I played minecraft on lag alot even my old 2007 macbook plays better on minecraft. The only reason that people say that pcs are better for gaming is because almost everyone here plays minecraft on a pc and don't want anyone to say macs are better. Now on my 2011 27-inch imac it has no lag. That 8gb of RAM will do awesome with minecraft. Highly recommend the MacBook Pro retina 13"!

I notice you don't say what specs those old PCs had.

The reason people say PCs are better for gaming is because it's true. For $1500, one can build an awesome rig.

Even if you give the game more RAM, vanilla Minecraft will never use more than one gig of it.

It's not worth to save $1500 for one thing. I'm saving up to buy a computer that's $1000 dollars, but people are giving me money (Family members). If you really want to buy this computer ask someone for a lown.

Well Mac is for Business, travel, Socializing ect.... Mac does not support gaming.
However Windows Supports Gaming and Business. I don't like mac because it doesn't help servers and Games. Windows is better than mac for now but people like mac because it works better and has better Graphics.

I'd say no if you're talking Minecraft... Unless you need/want the other features of it badly, I'd reccommend a different type. Macs aren't the best for any game, even Minecraft.
