You're joking right? Encoding is not running a server. Please learn basic computer terminology before making a post. To OP: Either one of those would be fine for gaming, just depends on how much better you want to run the games.

I think you should get the eight core one (2nd one) because the more cores you have, you can spread the work across the cores
