For once I agree with Killertoad. And it's not all easy when you deal with Windows. You have to support that as well and provide drivers and as with any business, it's the guy who came up with the business to do the most work when other people don't want to do it. I would support this if 3 important key things were/are true.

1. You want to use this as an opportunity to learn more about computers. I'd start off with a computer repair company so you can learn new kinds of problems and learn how to problem solve and prevent them from happening again. Learning Linux along side that would also help. I'm doing that same thing with selling my own computers, but then again I'm also a programmer and I know Linux more than probably anyone else on this forum and made my own distro with a customized kernel.

2. If you weren't focusing on games. The game market is difficult and takes a LOT OF MONEY. It seems like an easy market but it's super cutthroat and you have to convince everyone you're better than the rest. I know a lot of people who would go with a more expensive computer because they go with "you get what you pay for", which is a big scam going on in the industry right now but it's happening. It's important to instead of focusing on one thing, to adapt to things and give flexibility to look at new things.

3. Websites. Just....websites. I hate websites. Try making something that people can use instead that they can benefit from. Learn other operating systems, including different versions of Windows and add ideas into it that didn't catch on that you can improve. Innovation is key. As far as going anywhere, dream big. If you can dream big and you work towards them and have a lot of ideas you can just pick out of the blue, go for them and make goals because you may land among the middle of it and that's better than where you started. I say go ahead and take advantage of the opportunity to innovate and build things and make a business from that and just go with it.

You can't work on a slim markup over cost to build. I tried it - I priced builds to have between $50-$100 profit. Prices went up without notice, parts went out of stock, and someone ordered a build. I made like $20 (which was gone almost immediately to ship something I sold on eBay) plus less than $50 in rebates that I won't see for a couple of months, and the build had what the client thought were issues. I've been spending the better part of a month now making sure he understands what to do if something doesn't appear to work right. I almost had to RMA a motherboard because my client had taken the machine to a computer repair place and they told him "Windows 10 is the source of all your issues" and "a resistor fried and the Ethernet is broken." Luckily(?) they were lying to him and all I had to do was install the Ethernet driver, but my point stands. It's not worth working on slim profit margins.

I wholeheartedly agree with Killertoad.

You know all about computers you say? No offence, but three years and a class doesn't teach you everything about computers, only teaches you the basics. With my many, many, many more years of experience, I still learn something new every once in awhile.

Not to mention, what makes your "company" better than any other company? Do you think "why do they all price so high, why isn't one of them cheap, because more buyers = more money right?" well, think of warranties, DOA parts that you may not have time to send back, and much more. What if a computer gets broken in shipping? Who is going to pay to repair that? That $200 profit on each computer is for those exact reasons. It's not fair, but it's life.

Another thing, are you going to front the big chunk of money to start said business? Got to build computers to sell, before you can sell them, you know that right?
