3GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 7950

I am building my own gaming PC and I wish to be able to play modern games at highest setting with at least a steady 60fps, do you think this video card will be able to handle them?

Ati rules in videocard specs..
(back when games did not perform well on multicore it depended on what games you wanted to play but nowadays going for ati is a no-brainer...

the question is not IF you should buy an ati, but WHAT ati..

ofcourse we want the latest series.. lets see what we've got

7700-series (budget)
*7750 : 90-105 euro, with 1-4GB GDDR5 and 800-900Mhz
*7790 : 110-160 euro, with 1-2GB GDDR5 and 1000-1150Mhz
7800-series (midrange)
*7850 : 160-270 euro, with 1-2GB GDDR5 and 860-1000Mhz
*7870 : 205-320 euro, with 2GB GDDR5 and 1000-1120Mhz
*7870SE : 450 euro, with 4GB GDDR5 and 1050Mhz
7900-series (toprange)
*7950 : 260-365 euro, with 3GB GDDR5 and 800-950Mhz
*7970 : 350-465 euro, with 3GB GDDR5 and 925-1100Mhz
*7970SE : 580 euro, with 6GB GDDR5 and 1050Mhz

Now we have an idea of the marked.. lets give you proper advise..

you want a card that can give you 60FPS, thats low for pc standards.. I'd to say that ANY of these cards can give you that. even the budget one's.
-> though it DOES depend what genre you play, for not all games have the same demands... some games are more stressing on your raw GPU power, others need fast lines, and others need a lot of GDDR for rendering..
(not every card performs equal in every game..)

Let me start by pointing out the 7950 is a bad chooice..
You could for the same money better buy a 7870 (that will run a lot faster), or if you want.. pay a little extra to get the 7970,.

So I'd pick rather one of these three options :

Option 1 : go cheap

7750, 4GB version (while a little slower streaming.. it's just as potent in Mhz and has 1 extra GB Gddr, while costing less than halve that 7950..)
-it will cause your card to be outdated faster in the future.. because you cut back on overkill, but you save so much money you can aford to buy the 8750 if and when it apears with what you left and upgrade.. or buy a second 7750 and go dual....

Option 2 : spend wiser
The 7870, 2GB is a lot better investment than the card you chooice.. it costs about the same, but is a lot faster.. that 2GB versus 3GB you really won't notice that much as 200Mhz more!

Option 3 : go pro
The 7970, costs only 35% more than that 7950 of yours... but is a lot more potent.. you get that extra 200Mhz while ALSO keeping your 3GB GDDR3,, and the better infrastructure

Thats my advise... hope it helps..

Hm... 1.5gb versus 3gb...

Go 3gb and you will easily max out settings on any game you decide to play.

You should be able to max out most games, and get a steady 60+ FPS.

1.5GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660

Or

I would go for NVIDIA, but see if you can't find a better one.

Is there a reason why you think NVIDIA is better? Just from looking at it you can see that the AMD has double video RAM?

Um...im using a AMD vision A6 and it seems to work great with games like minecraft and tf2 and terraria , etc. but it will lag in planetside 2 and some mmg so try to get a better one than mine. If you want more information go to Steam and go to a game that needs a good video card and try to get at least that . Hope you know what i mean . if you need more explaining reply or message me.

That doesn't answer my question in anyway... I don't plan to play the games that you listed and they aren't very graphic intensive, any normal new desktop would be able to play those games. I wish to play games such as Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim and Crysis 2 and 3 when it is released.
