If you get it before the '11.5' months, you have it permanently. Plus, it doesn't remove your files. You're just upgrading to another OS, it's not affecting your Hard Drive.

It does remove your files, even upgrading from 8 to 8.1 wiped your entire partition. I'd be surprised if jumping all the way from 8/8.1 to 10 doesn't wipe them as well.

Yes, I guess your right. But not all files will be uninstalled.

If you are a Windows 7/8 user, you can have Windows 10 for free, permanently. The offer stands for a year, so after a year you have to buy it. But if you order is now, or get it before 'the year' ends, you have Windows 10 for free, for as long as you want.
