I recently had a not so great boss who constantly lectured me about how my job should always come first whenever I asked for days off. I've been taking day off for my health and education, so I can hopefully have a better future. The Boss also treated me like I was stupid and she would talk about me in front of me like I couldn't hear. There was a bunch of other problems but I don't really want to get into it.

Well I quit today, and she lectured me once again. I don't know, I'm starting to think she may be right. Should your job come before everything else?

Is it necessary to clarify it?

Job should be important, but your health should be more important. You should not be in a job where you are not appreciated or where you dont feel good. It will only ruin your life.

Never. I don’t work, but I personally think that your happiness, family, and friends (and romantic partner if you have one) should come before your job, especially happiness. If you’re not happy at your job, then clearly it’s not for you.

I've actually struggled with this for a while, but I have a very friendly work environment, so it's not as hard on me. Yes, your job is important, and yes, it's the thing that makes you money, but you should also allocate time for school, health, friends, free time, etc. I think that your job is slightly more important, but you should be able to take days off now and then or enjoy the days off that you get. This doesn't mean that you should try and work as little as possible, but I believe that if you're feeling physically (or even mentally) like you literally just CAN'T work, try and get the day off. Friends are also important, but I haven't really had to sacrifice work time for friend time. Not yet, anyway xD

It depends. If you need to have some days off because of family stuff, sickness etc. then it’s fine. But other than that I would say that your job should come first. Hope this helped! Good luck finding a new job!

Take it from me: It's not healthy to sacrifice everything else in your life for your job.
(I'm not going to explain why, it's 1AM here, I need to get some sleep to keep my sanity up)
