What is a good and free game recorder?
hey guys i need your help i am looking for a screen recorder that
1.is good as in makes good videos
2.is free
3.does not lag
4.is safe
5.can pick up microphones
and 6.can make videos that can upload to youtube

When you upgrade your computer, get a Nvidia Card. ShadowPlay is the best recording software out there. I play with AMD fanboys, who use the AMD vers of ShadowPlay, and they admit ShadowPlay is a bit smoother, and I believe it maintains quality with better compression.(good picture, small files)

OBS (Open Broadcast Software) its open sourced and free. plus you can put in a watermark for your YouTube vids. to see if someone is using your vid w/o permission. plus you can stream to twitch, or youtube live. with nightbot. so you can get people to waitch you. i use it to record and stream to twitch. i have a single core computer it gets laggy sometimes. but it works great with obs

Hey! You can use Screen-o-matic! It has a small watermark in the corner, but you can use it online, downloading it is better, even with a crappy computer it still works good
I use screencast-o-matic, and it lags like CRAZY. When I'm playing, I don't notice it, but when I watch my videos they are really laggy.

Bandicam is a nice recording software because it barely affects game performance and the size of the recorded videos are small. I got it for free because I used a crack to get the full version. I don't think its appropriate for me to share the crack here though.
I think you should go with Camtasia demo, just like what XxDeadlyTxX said above me. It is much easier to get than cracking bandicam (I don't know why I didn't go with that in the first place, but It was kind of worth it ).
One last thing, I suggest upgrading your PC to fix the "lag problem" that you're having. That's all, good luck!

bandicam...good HA! that's a bit funny because it made my PC lag so much it literally shut itself off. also it uses the people who got it free as advertising space and sure its quality is good but the lag it causes makes the quality a minor thing, didnt mean to be rude at that first part if i was...just making a point.
I would go with the Camtasia demo. That is what I use and it is super reliable. If your trial runs out, just redownload it and you won't lose unfinished projects. The demo also has no watermark. It is great for both mac and PC users.

Mine is laggy too, but I think that's just from the settings. I don't have the best computer, but I can record with fraps/mirillis action at around 30 frames at the best. If you can link me to a tutorial for OBS which makes it super non-laggy, that would be great!

No recording software can have the opposite of lagginess.
What you need is an editing software which when done with the video, you need to render to make it smooth, and if not then you need a better computer.

You've run into a hardware problem, you can't just find a "non laggy" one, you just need a better computer.
You're asking for a good recorder, yet not one you can download? Good luck.

There's also the added benefit of leaving it on and having it capture via temp files until you do that accidental amazing thing you want on video, then telling it to capture your previous 10 minutes of gameplay and save the file. If you can get it, it's great and it's free.
