I might wind up setting up a server for another community I go on, but I want to know how much ram would one suggest for a 50 slot Minecraft server, thanks in advance.

Personally, for any public server, I would go with 4 gigs as a minimum. If you plan on having decent amount of plugins then you will need the extra RAM (and make sure to check the CPU as that is quite important with plugins).
If you are only going to host a vanilla server, then you could go with less RAM, but for most public servers, 4gigs is probably a good starting point.

You can't judge the amount of RAM that should be used based upon slots. What are you planning on doing with it, plugins, etc
