I am making an adventure map and I want to make a part where you have to put out a fire to continue. But all i know about that is sticky pistons. Please help.

or, if the map is 1.7.2, what you could do is have a command block with this command hooked up to a circuit that lets them continue. Here is the command
/testforblock (x coordinate of the fire) (y coordinate of the fire) (z coordinate of the fire) minecraft:fire 0

YOU need to get water and throw into the fire. Sorry, but that is good Idea.just not what i was looking for

Could you not use a switch linked to a dispenser containing buckets of water.

It might be a bit crude, but it would be realistic to have the water put it out at least!
