My server has an odd error message...
When Minecraft 1.5.1 went live, I attempted to log on to my server. When I did, it came back with an error message stating "received string length longer than maximum allowed." Oddly enough, my server is still registered as online. Anybody know what that means? Can someone point me in the right direction towards fixing this? Thanks in advance. ~LucarioJames

If it's a modded server and something is wrong with it, then I'm fairly inclined to say someone messed up with the mods (and not configuration).
It's 64.34.161.200:30365... It's a Clanforge server. Idk if maybe Mojang inadvertently made MC incompatible with Clanforge or something like that. I can always cancel my account and reload a map into another service if need be.
I also tried using the browser version. This time it simply says "Bad login."
What is the IP/port of your server?
So, is this something I just have to wait out, or do I have to start over again with a new map/world? From what you're saying, it sounds like it's an issue Mojang has to fix, but I'm not too certain.
It's an issue with the server thinking the length of your or whoever's username is too long. Is it trying to kick you from the game or is it just spitting that error in the console?
This wouldn't be an issue with the username, if I remember correctly it's an issue within the response from login.minecraft.net 's string being too long.
For instance, my session ID would be:
1367502965000:deprecated:Redrouge007:2523788103630709625:b8d6810f07654ec7ba923d5ac4e1cc0d
But that can be out of order for other people. Again, I'm not 100% certain on that, but it's part of the equation iirc.

Keep in mind, this is MY server, not someone else's I NEED to know how to fix this issue!
Well, I tried restarting the server, and still the same issue. Maybe I have to redownload Minecraft?
That won't help. Just ignore it, it's no big deal.
It's occured at times with mismatched client/server versions. Make sure if you're using a 1.5.2 server that you're also using a 1.5.2 client.
I'm using Clanforge for Minecraft 1.5.2. I've messed around a bit, but I cannot seem to get the error message to go away. It says "Internal exception: java.io.IOException: Received string length longer than maximum allowed (21 > 16). I have NO idea what it means!
What server version are you using?
