Single Player Commands
Hi,
I downloaded a Minecraft adventure map, and when I went into it I could not find a way for it to start or trigger something. I originally thought that there was a bug in the map, but the same thing happened with several other maps I downloaded. Is there a way to somehow activate the command blocks, so that the maps work?
Thanks for all answers

Enable command blocks.

How do you do that?
Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but I just started playing Minecraft

If you run a server, make sure to have enable-command-blocks (or something like that) set to true. If not, you can't enable/disable them anyways.
Please make sure to play the map on the version it tells you to. In 1.10 or somewhere around that they changed A LOT of the entity IDs. This also goes for ArmorStand which was changed into armor_stand. Armor stands are used a lot in adventure maps.
Also the /tellraw and /title syntax got changed to strict JSON in that version, which requires everything to be quoted. That's why the dialogues and on-screen titles would probably break if played in the wrong version. Other than that, there could be a couple other things that could cause corruption.
