Java Programming Help
Hello,
I want to start coding my own plugins, because there are many plugin ideas that I have, but that are either projects that have been abandoned or are permanently outdated, so yah. I want to start making my own plugins. If anybody could answer a couple questions I have, that would be great:
1. What exactly do I need to get started? I have eclipse, but that's about it. Do I need an "API"? I don't really know what that is. If somebody could explain it, that'd be great. I'd like to make 1.8.6 spigot (if you could explain what "API" I would need for that, that would be nice).
2. Where can I find good tutorials on plugin programming? Any youtube series? I tried finding a good one, but lots were all outdated.
If you could help me out, I would be in debt to you. Thank you very much!
If you don't know how to do this, but know somebody who can help answer my questions, please let them know about this thread!
Thanks,
OneBarRouter

It isn't really suggested to watch youtube to learn how to program, as it could teach bad practices.
I suggest learning straight from Oracle's Tutorials.

1. You need java with a matching java jdk installed. You also need eclipse and the spigot jar.
2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EUPVpqwvZw
Also, plugin programming really doesn't go out of date because they change very little of their code. It is nice to check every update though just to be sure something didn't go out of date.
