Herobrine
Hey everyone I just watched a video on youtube about how herobrine came to be so popular now who else remembers him I just want to see. After all these new people to Minecraft are growing up without that and even closer to the end of my childhood we had the different color steves but I just want to see how many of us remember the herobrine time of Minecraft!

I haven't thought about Herobrine since like 2011. Wow! I used to genuinely think it was a thing in the game when I started playing.
Just saying Herobrine has scared the pants off millions. I would rage quit Minecraft if they added him or I saw him. Also endermen give me nightmares
i once read a story about how he became herobrine and its the most weird thing ever.

My crew blamed several fires that broke out in our towns on herobrine. We all knew it was one of us but we liked to keep the story going.
When I was a noob to Minecraft, (I began on mobile in 2016? Whenever the update with llamas came out) my brother trolled me by having his username just be spaces. (which when you arn't signed into xbox you can pick whatever username you want) So back to the story. My brother with his invisible username joined my world and flew around a little bit with a Herobrine skin. And so, confused/scared I ran to my brother and told him. And then I saw on his screen my world.

I bet 80-90% of the people who know of herobrine dont know the 1st video he first appeared in
Haha I have no idea how I learned about him, I think he just manifested when enough MC players felt terror digging down in deep darkness :)
It wasn't even a video that really started it, but instead, a forum post that was basically a CreepyPasta was posted on some Minecraft forums page and then a video was soon made because of that forum post.
The video was clearly stage but at the time many thought it was real, and thus Herobrine soon became a legend we now know today.

It was a video that went to a creapypasta after the first video and an actual bug happened, I looked into it a lot and it was a genuine bug
There isnt herobrine and there never was. Atleast as a bug or vanilla feature. That amount of coding and AI would be a nightmare to produce. Unpacking the minecraft.jar has no entity texture for Herobrine. And the description is never consistent.
We got ourselves a mythbuster over here.
Herobrine lives on hidden sanctuary. He might be the scariest non boss mob you can encounter ;)
There are no references to herobrine in language files / splash screens, and no entity texture either
