1.Go to http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Adventure_Update
2.scroll down to where it says 'Client: http://assets.minecraft.net/1_9-pre3/minecraft.jar'
3.click the link ' http://assets.minecraft.net/1_9-pre3/minecraft.jar'
4.save as to your bin in .minecraft type in %appdata% - .minecraft - bin
5.finish downloading and done!

might I add that this should work for all other future releases except of course replace the 1.9-pre3 jar with the updated one.
