Jeb and the new 1.7 Biomes
1.7 is going to be glorious and full of new biomes and revamped world gen.
In case you haven't seen them yet, here are two pictures that Jeb has posted of new biomes in progress:
These are some sort of canyons of mesas that make use of the new hardened clay blocks to resemble exposed strata.
This is some sort of coniferous forest that contains mossy cobblestone, a new dirt-like block called podzol, and regular dirt blocks that remain dirt and can't grow grass.
Thoughts?

And you see the snow on top? That's not a tiaga biome. They're working on having snow fall above a certain altitude!

I love them both as well, but I love just about any biome. If I had my way, we'd have a Minecraft full of all the old pre-beta 1.8 biomes alongside the current biomes, and new biomes with every update.

hmm.... well... i was a hater but now i really like "coniferous forest" biome! that hardened clay one can go to hell. imagine if you had large biomes on and you found yourself in the middle of that clay crap. Im wandering if one would loose his sense of direction sense this biome looks featureless!
Maybe we'll get a snapshot today with some of these implemented. If not, hopefully we'll at least get a picture of another new biome before next week.
The canyons biome looks kinda ugly :/ But the second one is totally cool.

We're all waiting for some ocean content. Maybe this time? Coral reefs, new underwater mobs, or even just putting the sponge on the bottom of the oceans in bunches would be something. A start, at least.

I actually hope they put in coral. I actually like to go into creative and make little coral structures out of the Sponge block, because it already resembles coral.

I heard something about adding volcanoes to the oceans, and actually having red dragons (possible overworld boss :O)
I believe they are going to add a few things to the ocean.

Actually, I think they mentioned several months back that Jeb had been talking with a guy from either Biomes O' Plenty of ExtraBiomes XL. If so, amazing!

Very exciting, I must say. Minecraft is getting more into a realistic world of nature, but in pixels.
I feel the "disco mountains" as Jeb called them, are one of the stupidest things he could possibly implement into the game, if your gonna do that then you better use better materials than clay
The first picture reminds me of Arizona and The second picture looks like Mt. Hood national forest in Oregon

Well, whenever I see new biome pictures, I just think of the first released picture of the new Extreme Hills biome. Then I actually explore one, and the ones I find look like shat.

1.7 will not be out for quite a long time because 1.6 was just brought out so do not expect it to be out next month just warning
With the amount of minecraft mods there are, it's likely an update will have something similar. What your saying is like complaining that the minecraft horse update copied a minecraft horse mod.
Actually, the horses are the same horses from the Mo' Creatures mod. They got the mod creator to help them with it.
It looks almost like a rip-off of that many different biomes mod that I forgot the actual name to. It added coniferous forests that which dirt didn't grow grass and a kind of mountains biome that looked somewhat like the first picture. Once again, Jeb is ripping off another mod. I know it's kind of hard to come up with new ideas nowadays, but please, stay original.
The first one contrasts terribly with the surrounding biomes, so I hope the preview is really only a preview and it turns out better later.

They also plan on adding spruce trees to the Extreme Hills and possibly adding Cherry Trees.

Thinking about it, with the "no-grass" dirt blocks, mapmakes are going to be so happy at the cahnge to finally make dirt roads that don't have to be gravel or cobblestone all the time. I'm really looking forward to utilizing that in my next big project after my current map.
Jeb also shared this picture yesterday showing off a map that he uses to see all the various biomes and how they are layed out in the new update. It's a work in progress, but it's fascinating.
According to this, it looks like there are plenty of new biomes, many of which we don't know anything about. Also, it looks like the world gen will be changed so that biomes group together in ways that make sense now. No more deserts beside jungles or snow.

I believe you have the wrong Jeb bro. This isn't even the same game that means LOL. So, we still know all the biomes. Make sure you have the right information before you go spread a story.
