I need help with downloading mods (weird problem)

I'm having trouble with every mod that I download. I know how to download them and put them in the mods folder for minecraft but for some reason when ever I download a mod my computer automatically turns all of the files inside it into windows media player files?? Does anyone know how to fix this???

Delete META-IMF!
Ok first of all you should be dragging the mods into your minecraft.jar instead of the mod folder and make sure you have WinRAR or WinZIP installed so you can properly open the mod files and drag the contents.
Hmm, try talking to an admin?
