The idea is simple, one person starts building on a map and plays for 2 full minecraft weeks, (or one full rotation of the moon's phases) and then they post up what they've accomplished onto PMC. Then another user (or users) receives the file and builds on it for another minecraft 'phase cycle'. Each person in turn posting their accomplishments and results onto their own project page and continuing the chain of posting. If you are at all interested you should check out all the details here:

Thanks for the feedback on the idea, nice to see users (especially moderators, wow) are somewhat interested. You know? It was just something that I thought would be nice to try so let's see how it works.

File's up for anyone to grab now.

Well it would just be a group of the same people working on this project. This is how I think it will go:

Someone starts on the build and asks who wants to work on it next. Someone offers so the person gives him the map and that person continues to build. After this is done like 3-5 more times no one else will really want to work on it so it will be the same 3-5 people working on it, then they end up getting bored and this project is dead.

But who am I to judge? Go for it if you want. You don't need PMC's permission, this is an individual thing.

I know how to organise them,

*dangles moderator promotion on a stick and waves it around above them*

and now they obey me.

Who am I kidding they aren't that common but they are there. Tbh it would probably fail because people aren't organised enough.

Pass-it-ons are common on the minecraft forums, no reason why it wouldn't work.

there is always the posibility of griefers, but this type of thing has worked in similar games before (dwarf fortress for one)

And then another person griefs it...

It's an interesting idea but it has flaws =\

Also post in cooperation forum next time.

You could always keep backups of the map so if someone griefs its not a big deal

True it's in interesting idea but if someone does not know where to start building or doesn't have enough experience on a certain thing it will become failcraft really fast.
