Weird Hacker on Hunger Games Servers?!?

So a few days ago I was playing on a Hunger Games server with my friend. My friend randomly died, and no one had killed her, it was the weirdest thing! I told her I would try my hardest to win. About 5 minutes later it was just me and 1 other person. Suddenly my chunks stopped loading, but I thought my game was just lagging. Then I saw a chest, and I tried to open it.
When I opened the chest I saw a diamond sword for about a second, and then my entire screen went blue. In order to close Minecraft I had to open up the Task Manager and close it. It was the weirdest thing! It has happened to my cousin a few times before, and he told me it was while playing on Hunger Games maps too. Could there potentially be a hacker that goes on Hunger Games servers and hacks players? Could it be Herobrine? Any ideas?

Might be your computer. Maybe a chunk was corrupted or something?
If the chunk was corrupted it would have crashed said server. This has happened to my beautiful brand new hub, which sucked really bad. Now I'm using this really ugly temp hub haha
