What would you do if Mojang banned modding?

Wouldn't really affect me, I only use Opti-Fine. How would you react?

I don't see why they would even consider banning modding from Minecraft. Not really possible, all you have to do to mod Minecraft is decompile the sourcecode and write/rewrite whatever you want to add (obviously modding is more complex than that but you get the point).

Anyhow, Mojang did state the do support the modding community. Take Bukkit for example:
Dinnerbone currently works for Mojang, however he used to work for Bukkit.

I have gone a little bit off topic though, back to the original point of the post.

If Mojang did find a way to ban modding from minecraft, I think it would cause a little bit of havoc because of the thousands of people that play modded minecraft. I personally would hate it, due to the fact that I am a modder myself.

I could care less.
I mean, I like shaders and optifine, but not really that much.
The real question here, why would they do it?
