So me and some friends are debating what we like best. MC-Edit or Worldedit. I personally like MC-Edit. I find it cleaner and more efficient. But I will use worldedit I cant use mc-edit.

Depends what your doing
I'd use MCEdit, but I'm too lazy, and I already know all the commands for WorldEdit, so I do pretty much everything in that unless it involves copy/pasting something that I know will end up giving my server an out of memory error if I try it with WE.
its kinda hard to say because they do completely different things mostly MC-Edit is better in my opinion because you can do a lot more with it like filters spawners and all that The BEST adventure maps are made with MC-Edit filters and spawners while WorldEdit is just terrain editing
I agree. Most adventure maps are edited with MC-edit then worldedit.
They are 2 different things...
Using WorldEdit and MC-Edit is the best thing to do since they both have their pros and cons. Also if you don't have this http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/build-commands/ for WorldEdit you are missing out.
Also I think that WorldEdit is much more powerful that VoxelSniper.

I was actually looking at inHaze's mod but I did not now if it still worked for 1.6.4 servers so I can out it on mine.
I haven't tried it since my server is still on 1.6.2 but I think it should still work.
I prefer MCEdit a lot more actually. I never got used to the commands and confusion of WorldEdit, even if MCEdit isn't as advanced it's a lot easier for newcomers and lazy people who hate to learn things like me
Same! Before I learned worldedit i used mcedit because it was easier to learn and personally for me its a lot neater.
Worldedit is my favorite because it's much more quicker. MCEdit takes forever to do stuff...
Worldedit is so much more simpler, when MCEdit is like "nope cant do that, nope cant do that either".
So basically, I choose Worldedit.

But you cant make structure spawners in worldedit...
I can totally relate to that.
MCEdit is my personal favorite. Sure, World Edit is quicker since you never actually have to leave game, but MCEdit can just do so much more.
And yes, I've used both.

Well I just wanted to see who liked what. I left worldpaint out because thats mostly for creating custom worlds and terra forming. I've never heard of world machine. And voxelsniper is terra forming.
But WE Terra forms as well.
I still say WE has the most agility in all fields. I have never tried painter, I would like to though.

This thread doesn't make any sense as they are two completely different things.
Worldedit is mainly professionally used to terraform and easily set large structures.
MCEdit is mainly professionally used for mapmakers to achieve things that are impossible in the real game.

MCEdit can with some filters do all World Edit can do. MCEdit of course.
World Edit
is for easing edits that are done in the game. It makes replacing blocks easier, growing trees easy, and doing small things that are annoying but generally feasible without the plugin.
McEdit
is for copying and pasting (as far as I know World Edit cannot), and for completing tasks that are so large that they are nearly impossible to do in game. It also is for using Seth Bling's filters, and for mass conversions of blocks. Here is an example of an McEdit Map I made:
http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/ ... nture-map/
World Painter
seems to have been forgotten in this post, but is actually my personal favorite because it changes terrain so drastically. It is for generating beautiful terrain from scratch with some added features like trees and snow, or for editing an existing map to be more beautiful. World Edit focuses on easing repetitive tasks, McEdit allows copy paste and enabling completion of massive tasks, and World Painter is the enviornment controller; the program to use before making your epic castle.
Voxel Sniper and World Machine
are not the same thing, but I don't know anything about them. They are there though.

Worldedit can copy and paste.
Everyone says Worldedit and MC-Edit are totally different things. I don't see it. They do most of the same things but have different options. I mostly use MC-Edit for schematics and finding the middle of a area. Or just to flatten land etc.
I like WorldEdit better then voxel. But mcedit and WE are very different, Overall I like WE better.
I like them both.
There is no way that I can export a schematic from a server using world edit. Not that good.

That too, I've tried to load schems with W.E., it wasn't very fun.
I can't even copy and paste anything. It goes all over the place. Very hard to get it in the right spot.
You forgot VoxelSniper
But i use both World Edit and VoxelSniper on my server, depends on the need

swimmer1929They're 2 entirely different things. WorldEdit is a plugin that you can use on a server to quickly edit blocks, MC-Edit just allows you to edit maps.
True dat
World edit all the way xD
I just use it for building large redstone mechanisms. Mostly use it for the copy paste as well as colour coding blocks to make things easier to see. I have a lot of commands set with key binds, which makes things a lot faster.
To edit nbtags i use an ingame nbtediter so i never have to leave the game

I like to use MCEdit when using filters such as SethBling's or trying to build quickly and also importing schematics.
I like to use WorldEdit if I feel like working on a map on my own home-run server with 1 or 2 slots only and just use it to build quickly in-game, although I don't do this as much.
(I chose MCEdit)

I prefer worldedit, if i need to flatten an area of land, I can just do //replace air and then //replace [whatever block the ground is] [what i want]. If i use mcedit, I have to close the world, make a bunch of awkward selections, then edit the blocks.
In short, i find Worldedit much more convenient.
*I will use mcedit if I want to use sethbling's filters.

Well, why not both, I love worldedit, cause I can see the effects ingame, and it has lots more features then MCedit, but it has a tendency to crash servers when you world edit a lot, so MCedit is better for big stuffs.
They're 2 entirely different things. WorldEdit is a plugin that you can use on a server to quickly edit blocks, MC-Edit just allows you to edit maps and is too cumbersome in my opinion.
Worldedit's not just a plugin for servers. There are other programs that support it like SPC.
That is EXACTLY what I was going to say XD
