Hosthorde = laggy as shit, piggy-backing servers together, and unhelpful customer service. It's worth it to pay a few extra bucks and go somewhere else. dont waste your money. I know this was last yeat But I hope someone sees this and saves them the pain I am suffering on Christmas day where the Camel Jockey on Live help won't help.

I am looking for a server host and found hosthorde.com and plugpayplay.com.
Have anyone used them? Please tell me about the features and the bad stuff...

I like HostHorde since they got a Unlimited Plan, but the demo server is laggy.
PlugPayPlay sent me a test server which was nearly lag-free, but they haven't got an unlimited plan.

I've used both, and to be honest I wan't happy with either.

HostHorde always seemed laggy and their Multicraft frontend kept showing CPU Usage over 100% much of the time. I think they oversell their nodes, but don't quote me on that. They also have Disk Quotas, so having multiple worlds can be difficult.

PlugPayPlay was good for a while, but again they seem to be getting laggy also. We had our node crash, and have to move a couple times. Their response to ticket times seem spotty also. I think they are EU based, so if you aren't in their timezone you can end up waiting longer than you might wish.

I'm currently using DemonVPS, and so far they've been superb. Setup was a breeze and my one help ticket (I wanted a custom JAR used) was answered quickly. I'm only using the 2GB RAM Minecraft option, but since they are on SSD's, the lag is almost non-existant even with large WorldEdit operations. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links, so I'd recommend you Google them yourself.

Sorry for replying to an old thread but I've used plugpayplay! The Price was great! The server quality was great but the support was awful, I accidently clicked the wrong thing when i was upgrading and it changed my IP, It took them 2 days to revert to the old IP But the worst member of the support team was Sean O'Donnell, he said nothing was wrong with my server when there WAS clearly a problem.
But overall I give then 4/5

It is $4/GB with a max of 2GB. For plans larger than this it's $6/GB

Service is okay.
In the event of a DDoS attack, you might as well switch hosts. For myself as of right now, I use fragnet.
