TAWcraft Redstone Competition #1

Want to impress people with your Redstone skills and see your creations showcased on YouTube? Join the first TAWcraft Redstone Competition. We have three challenges for you, to be completed within 18 days. You can compete alone, or with a teammate (max. 2 members per team) on our dedicated Redstone Competition server.




THE TASKS:

Task 1: The Farm

Make an automated pumpkin farm - and have it collect as many pumpkins as possible within one minute. The farm must be activated and deactivated with a single lever and require no other interaction.



Task 2: Mob drop collector

Harvest as many mob drops as possible from the two Cave Spider Spawners in the centre of the task area within one minute. You are not allowed to move these two spawners.



Task 3: Freestyle

Anything goes. Impress everybody with the most crazy, beautiful, clever machine/invention/art using Redstone technology.





RULES:

For all tasks:

1) You are only allowed to build inside the marked red zone - and you may not place, pull or push any blocks into or out of the surrounding marked zone. If the end project contains a block in a red zone the build will be disqualified.

2) No lag machines. You will be banned for making/using one.

3) No always-on clocks. Clocks must only be toggled on and off by activation of the lever.

4) Only build within the 3 allocated areas in your marked plot. Do not tamper with other contestants' creations. Do not build outside your marked plot.

5) Tasks that are unfinished at the deadline will be given 0 points.

6) 1-2 members per participating team.

7) Each Redstone contraption MUST be powered by a lever.

8) The lever MUST be placed on a gold block, and this is the only place a gold block can be used. If the referees cannot find the gold block within adequate time, we will disqualify.

9) The levers will only be powered on for one minute and used to test relative efficiency (pumpkins / mob drops collected per minute)

Task 3:

10) Leave clear instructions on signs as to how it works. We must be able to activate your build.





JUDGING:

Tasks 1 & 2: Measured in how many pumpkins/mob drops are gathered in a minute in chests.

Total points achievable: 30 per task

Task 3: Freestyle project will be judged in 4 parts, technical finesse and novelty/creativity being more important than Design and structure and usefulness.

* 1st prize - each team member will receive:
250k server money,
32 Redstone blocks,
1 Legendary named magic item from our 'Diablo Drops' plugin

* 2nd prize - each team member will receive:
100k server money,
16 Redstone blocks,
1 Legendary named magic item from our 'Diablo Drops' plugin

* 3rd prize - each team member will receive:
50k server money,
8 Redstone blocks,
1 Legendary named magic item from our 'Diablo Drops' plugin


HOW:

1: Sign up to the competition here: Sign up form page

2: Log onto the minecraft.taw.net server. Read the server rules and complete the introduction.

3: Look for the Red Gate in the gate tree and walk into it.

4: Find an empty build lab in the Redstone Competition server.

5. Claim your lab by finding an empty one, then when inside it, type /plotme claim. To add a team mate, type /plotme add players_name

6. (optional) Protect your entrance, by putting a door in the glowstone entrance, with a lockette sign over the door on the inside with the text:



7. Build your tasks before the deadline following the task rules.
