Is my pc limiting my frames
Hey guys I'm having a little trouble with my new pc it's really high end (tell me if u want specs) and I am only getting 70-90 fps on single player with deafult settings and 60-70 on the hive in hub (only server I have at the moment) so I was wondering if anyone could point out if my pc is limiting my fps for some reason that's it thanks!

Settings?, is the fps limit set to "unlimited"?
I'd like to know the specs
just cos its high end doesn't mean it will have insane fps that's like over 100 + it doesn't really matter as the human eye can not tell the difference in frames above 60 fps
I believe you are one of them people that say we see at "34.241" frames, am I correct? Well, if you are, you're wrong. As humans don't see in frames....And I can tell the difference between 60 and 120? Am I abnormal?
Well your completely wrong mate I ain't no neek I just said it cos someone told me that about 60 fps but i didnt really believe them and I knew that 30+ is smooth.

This part's right - Highend doesn't mean high FPS
pyrocrisisit doesn't really matter as the human eye can not tell the difference in frames above 60 fps
This part is wrong. The human eye doesn't see in FPS, and even if it did, it can distinguish more than 200+, that we know of, and there isn't a limit that has been found, yet, because none of our technology can go that high.
ahh oh well it still doesn't make much of a difference though

Even still, the point stands, things appear smooth at 30 frames +
So he's right that it doesn't matter as long as you get 30-60+
Its better to limit your FPS anyway, stops the LSOD.

Not when you are on a 120hz monitor, it matters very much then.
Everything over 60 fps is the same herpaderpa
Most likely he is using a 60hz monitor, also can you post your PC specs?

Well then you need to get a better monitor.

Many monitors can only handle 60 FPS or 120PFS. It doesn't make any difference, anyway.

Anyone who has a 120hz monitor, and a computer that runs below 100 frames in minecraft has spent far too much on their monitor, and not enough on their computer.

120hz doesn't exactly make it better, it's only really needed if you have a PC that can run 120 fps on most games.

Yes, or maybe OP has a problem, and it is hindering his performance.
It'd be nice if he posted his specs
I have to agree, haha
The specs are an i7 4770 core processor with 8gb ran and a nivida graphics with 1 gb dedicated and I'm not complaining about the fps I just think it can do a lot more and wanted to know how I can get the most out of it.
You didn't list which nvidia card....For all we know, you could have a nvidia geforce 8something, and I know for a fact it runs minecraft at very low frames.
Playing minecraft on a 5 year old pc with "average" spects still gives me 60-120 fps (depending on settings and such). Theres really no use in having 100+ FPS NVDIA also limits the frames to your monitors frames. So if your monitor can only handle 60 fps it will only go to 60 fps. Its to limit unneeded waisting of resources. So you can for example play a youtube video on your second monitor (if you have one) while playing Minecraft and still wont lag since it will only be needing to process 120 frames in total instead of maby 300 in minecraft and 120 for that video. hope this makes sense.
I just realized that I have a very slow FPS. I don't think I've ever gotten above 30, and my average is about 12.
Yay for amd a8 processors
An A8 can get 60+ fps on high settings.
Oh, I guess I don't remember which CPU my laptop had, my mistake
My old laptop ran 20ish fps and it had an and a6 or a4 or something

Well thanks its probably good it doesn't go over board and stress out the PC I am also thinking about playin games like call of duty and assasins creeds on it too so if I play those it will speed up a bit to get same fps on those games? And I'm not 100% sure what graphics card I have but it's probably not the best on the market pretty average probably. Still I'm pretty happy with the frames I'm getting because I get over 60 most of the time so it's not bad at all.
i run a good 120 - 280 fps on very high settings one day its was running low like 60 - 110 then i noticed my peformance in settings was not on max fps i put it back on max fps and it was running normal again
hope this helps!
hope this helps!
Oh yeah and I put it on max fps and vsync off
FPS performance can *sometimes* be affected by the most random things.
1. Yes, above 60fps is fine, although personally i feel like I'm lagging (in minecraft) when my game drops to 80-90fps.
2. If you want the absolute max fps, close out any other programs you're not using. For me Chrome usually makes minecraft take a hit on fps, from avg 180 to 120, then again... i usually have a minimum of 15-20 tabs open on chrome.
3. Make sure you don't have any minimized tasks running (i.e. anti-virus scanning and hiding in the taskbar, etc)
/*EDIT: Random because my fps dropped to 40-50 yesterday until i closed a notification from the Nvidia Experience program. Dunno why. I closed it and fps shot back up to 90-100s.
END EDIT.*/
Lastly, I'm curious. Would you be able to tell us your graphics card?
If on Windows 7:
-Start
-Right-click on Computer
-Properties
-On "Rating" section
-Windows Experience Index (it's a link)
-Under the Big Rating score to the right
--- "View and Print detailed performance and System Information"
This will pull up your entire computer specs if you need them in the future

google chrome is an fps killer
lol. I don't think it is in general, is it? I mentioned it because of the number of tabs. I almost always play my games with Chrome open in the background.

What, really? I nearly always have Chrome open, but don't notice a difference in FPS, when it's not..
i have dual moniters now but when i didnt it will drop my fps by 10-20 maybe this only happens on linux (i know alot of people are going to hate me for saying this but i hate windows and mac so i got a linux gaming pc)
Nah no hate.
lol I just ran a small test (in order to be official it would need more play time in various scenarios. I know), but opening Chrome had the opposite effect.
I was getting 270-290, open Chrome, they dipped to 220-230, and after opening 9 tabs, when they finished loading my fps stayed at a 315-330 range.

Nah, as long as you didn't get a Mac for gaming..
