I'm having issues with allocating more RAM to minecraft, As you know, it's very easy to allocate more RAM into minecraft with the new launcher, but when I put more than 1 GB of RAM into the JVM arguements, minecraft will not load, the error message comes up as "Could not create the Java virtual machine"

If anyone can please help, I would be very thankful. Also, I have 10 GB of RAM on my pc, and I usually had it set to 4 gigs of RAM for minecraft.

How much ram do you have first off, What is your java version, what is your operating system, Like Windows 7 64bit, or 32bit, etc.

Are you typing "-Xmx4G" or "-Xmx4096M" to allocate the RAM, or are you typing "-Xmx4GB" or "-Xmx4096MB?"

You don't put the "B" when allocating memory to Java. Use K, M, or G.

If you're typing "M" or "G" and are not typing "MB" or "GB," then make sure you have the 64-bit version of Java installed.

Download 64 bit java AND 32 bit java, like me. Used to have a similar problem, cleared up.

1.5 gb is the max you can set with Java 32x, upgrade to Java 64x.

Any other errors? Seems odd to just say "Failed to create Java virtual machine" and nothing else.

Usually it's because a JVM flag was typed incorrectly (e.g. -Xmx4096MB instead of -Xmx4096M), or a JVM flag conflicts with 32-bit limitations.

No other errors, all it says is the one I stated before and it says that it's closing the program.

Use 1024 MB instead of 1GB. For 4 GB type 4096 MB
