Server help

i'm making a server so that me and my friend can play some survival. I can connect but no one else can. I gave him my external ip address to connect to the server but all it says is "communication error". I port forwarded and followed the wiki and a few youtube videos. Any ideas on what i should do so we can play on my server?

do you know how i would that atm im using my external ip address and my friends can't join but i can join using localhost

mabye give it a domain
my friend had this problem, so he gave his a server a domain and every1 could join
