What is "bump"

On almost every fourm post I go on there is someone saying "bump" for no reason. What does this mean?

Adding on to Azie, it bumps it up onto the "Last 20 Posts", spot, where it is more viewable for people to see

A bump ia any inncouous post that moves the topic it was posted on to the top of the thread list in the forum. Normal posts also do this.
In order to give everyone's thread a fair chance, we ask that every thread only have one pointless "bump" post per day, regardless of if you own the thread or not.
