What should I do with my builds?
Hello there! I am DreamWanderer of course :) I have been looking in to trying to upgrade my builds to a more recent version of Minecraft, But could never get things to work the way I like it. So I decided I would create a poll for it. how would you all like to see me build?
I have been trying to learn rendering in blender, But it unfortunately doesn't seem to render banners with their layers, and I have had issues with shaders crashing my game, and haven't been able to figure it out. But I could try to figure it out for you, even tho I'm not into vanilla screenshots.
I was leaning into building in 1.15, and trying to figure out some way to get rendered views of my builds with banners, but haven't figured it out yet

You could upgrade to 1.15.x and still use Chunky, I did for the latest build contest. However it has some drawbacks as Chunky is still in beta & not sure if all blocks are supported yet.

Check the above link & follow the instructions, especially to update the launcher.
Although I would recommend to make a testbuild in 1.15.x and check if everything works for you, like chuncky, shaders/optifine and such.
I still prefer 1.12.x, with that I can still use MC-edit.

I use 1.14.2 until I find an Optifine that is capable with Forge 1.15.2, and I use the Faithful Resource Pack, which saves me time on making a dedicated resource pack, because even the default blocks can have many uses, and look fine as is for almost any type of project. Also Chunky is working on a 1.14.2 version as we speak since they have a blog set up for it.
What's wrong with 1.14? there is optifine in that version.
A better question would be "what isn't wrong with 1.14?" Optifine shouldn't be much longer for 1.15. There are preview versions out already.
Couldn't you move to 1.15 and get an updated resource pack? Eventually Optifine will release a newer version that will make shaders more stable too
I mainly though about using default textures, as I have been kind of wanting to make my builds easy for others to use, with out having to download some specific resource pack, just for the build to look right.
There is currently an Optifine version for 1.15, but it's still in development. I use it and it works just fine.
I have seen quite a few strange lighting bugs in the latest dev build, but as you say it works fine and perfectly usable.
Well, the only time I've used Optifine 1.15 was for builds I made in the void superflat preset, so I probably haven't seen them because of that.
