The question people should be asking is, does the server offer windows remote desktop console where mcmyadmin can be run along with a ftp and vent/ts and/or will it just be a virtual machine. Also is 12gb the solid state ram or including the pagefile. These are key things I'd have to ask you before I say yes I could run a server for 50$ a month.

Aka just because you know java doesn't mean you know how to run mc stable and smooth.

Just a few comments, it would be fair to assume that the server is a VPS server, most people don't need windows remote desktop console because FTP and SSH are good enough, by saying that I also assume that ftp access is enabled(it is a server) and also regarding the ram and pagefile it would be a reasonable guess to say that it would not include the pagefile. On the teamspeak and ventrilo comment anyone with basic portfowarding and partioning knowledge could easily do what I plan to do(if I won) and devote one GB of the ram to a TS3 server another to a port 8080 web connection and the rest to minecraft. Now to your comment on Java I think it is partially true however me and my partner rewrote all of the minecraft code to reduce lag and add way more features.
