Hey guys, so mobs spawn quite aggresively on my server, how can I reduce this? I tried changing the difficulty although it's still spawning aggressively.

Hi Noxious,

Try going into your server directory and search for your " bukkit.yml " file. This is generated on both Bukkit and Spigot servers. Once you open the file, find the heading " spawn-limits ". By default, this is what it should look like;

spawn-limits:
monsters: 90
animals: 15
water-animals: 5
ambient: 15

Before you make any changes, make sure you stop your server first.

Monsters are obviously hostile Mobs and Animals are friendly mobs. But water-animals refers to Squids and ambient are Bats.

You can try entering lower numbers, for example, monsters: 45. That will reduce the number of Hostile mobs that are allowed to spawn. In theory.. however make sure you don't have any plugins that affect spawn rates also. Setting the number to 0 will disable spawning of that type altogether.

I did just hop on your server, but a few players told me you had just logged off.
Good luck and I hope that helps :/

No there isn't, unfortunately.
You need a plugin, mod or lots of complicated command blocks that changes these values for you.
Try doing a simple search on spigotmc, you can find almost everything there.

you can probably find a plugin, or get someone to make one, so you can change each mobs spawn rate in its config file or something
