Hello I was wondering can you use a /testfor command to check if a boss/mob died? Thank you.

If you give the boss/mob a custom name or UUID, you could use a /testfor command to see if the mob is still alive.

Something else that could work is a snowball that is on top of the boss, perhaps when the boss is alive, the command block is reading it and triggering the output, but its inverted so that when the snowball has hit the ground, and the command block doesnt see it anymore, then it can be seen as the boss being killed
Also, im sorry if this made no sense whatso ever, ill try to get a few commands for it so it could be easier to read if needed

i don't think that it's doable, but you COULD set a custom drop for a mob, and have the player dump that drop down a hopper for a detector system. it's a method a lot of map makers, including hypixel have used.
