We think Unity Network Hosting is a phenomenal hosting service that just happens to host Minecraft servers. It took a few years to develop but we think the features we've added makes us the best hosting can give us. Let's go over a few of them:
We all start with SSH encryption. This doesn't run in a web browser which can be hacked by malicious programs, have viruses, track you personal data. We removed the middle man and give you direct access to your server that no one track what you do.
On top of the encryption we have 3 separate layers, for starters the 1st layer of course have the ability to login through the console window, the 2nd layer which is known as the file system layer which allows you to drag and drop on your computer as if it was an external device (and that's not managed by unsecured FTP by the way), and last but not least our 3rd layer the graphical layer. The graphical layer is genius in how it works because if the third layer is a little difficult you can run a taskbar from the server to your computer. So you can browse through the encryption to prevent from being tracked on your local network. You can run all the standard programs off the server like you would on your own computer.
Other hosts like to be cheap and put everyone on a server as possible and then lock the file system everybody to make it seem like one account is on each server. Unity Network hosting is all private, nothing interacts with your server. This gives us a full array of power we can give to you as an end user. The program in charge of this is the Winspee Server Shell. That shell is what you login to from a console and you can check processes, how much RAM every process is using (not just Minecraft), the CPU usage of all processes, and file system and network management.
The Winspee Server Shell is built to give you all the power we have in a small helpful window which is open sourced, can give you more memory (up to 2 Gigs by default), check if the server is running Minecraft as it should, and much much more.
Another thing is you are free to program these servers with built in Python and C/C++ compilers and also feel free to install software like Skype and whatever else you like. Feel free to break things as that's what we're about. Hosting that puts you in control and shows you how things work and in case you get lost all servers can connect to 24/7 tech support and we built the OS and the software so if you get lost or want to make modifications or check talk, we're there to help.
I'd also like to say that unlike other hosts that go through unsecured (and even those poorly maintained with HTTPS). You can work on Minecraft on your laptop and have someone else miles away who's an admin of your server on his tablet maintaining the security of the kernel, while someone else is browsing the Internet with multiuser login. In the case of a sudden power outage, you can continue back on another device and go back to where you left off.
We also support community so we have your back 100% if you ban someone. IP's are looked at to see any repeated offenders and will be synced across all servers. We also like community inspired plugins and by default every server comes with Antifire and NoBoom to prevent fire spreading and creeper explosions. And we'll also throw in full access to use our hostname unitynetwork.sytes.net when you join.
