Armor stands

Definitely a massive overhaul on this one. Rendering system tweaked, new entities, new commands. Within a game, everything has to work with everything thing else. So when programming, you have to consider just about all the possibilities. With so many new things coming out in 1.8, I don't blame Mojang for taking their time.

Valve can take ages to release a new game and yet we love them. Mojang has the right to spend a few months on a release.

I don't know, but I just know it'll take a LONG time probably. Thinking.... maybe 6-7 months? .-. Idk xD

1.8 is a BIG update. It's going to come out in fall or winter. At least that's what I saw Mojang post.

from what i know of the you tubers (psj, generikb etc) have 1.8 on there mind crack server generic's first episode was published in mid july so id imagine anytime now we should be able to get it

I hope never, metadatas are gonna be replaced with block states and there still isn't vertical slabs

Nope.. they will wait until enough players use the version 1.8... That could be when they released 1.9 or 1.8.5 or something.. lol

All larger updates are taking up to 7 month.. with larger updates i mean 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8... It was always like this so don't think this update takes longer than all others.. look at 1.7 or 1.6... both took about a half year to be released
Im happy they didn't code mc with C++.. updates would take longer

I think not even Mojang knows when they're releasing 1.8.

Dinnerbone stated there are still a few months left in development for 1.8

1.8 is a big step. I'm glad they're taking their time instead of pushing an unpolished release earlier, especially since this will be a big update for servers with the ability to change usernames enabled.

Some places around the internet suggest in August, but I haven't found anything about an official release date.
